LADY WINTER MIST 2021
Lady Winter Mist is a video installation piece for Backwoods Gallery Melbourne as part of the Group show OH SHIT… curated by Lucas Grogan in 2021. It is a reimagining of a Waldorf-school nursery rhyme that the artist grew up with, now infused with the darkness of adulthood and the struggles of an inner child. It is a digital collage of real handmade scale models, masks, animation and a continuous dance performance by the artist.
CABLE 2020
Cable is a commissioned video piece for The Lock Up Art Space and The Newcastle Art Gallery as part of their Halloween 2020 celebrations. It is a video piece documenting the media landscape and psychology of my newly adopted country of the USA as I particularly experienced it at the start of the pandemic.
VAMPIRE MOUNTAIN 2019
First featured in The Lock Up Art Space’s Bender 2019 and then again in the group show Playground in 2022, Vampire Mountain features two battling vampires doing themed dances on a castle model I built with the addition of my dad dressed as a skeleton in an outfit he made.
I have worked in a number of mediums as an artist but something I keep coming back to is performance and vibe.
I grew up the child of fine artists on my mother and step-father’s side and on the other my dad is a puppeteer, performer and mask maker, so my exposure to creative performance started very early on. I have attended art school, Waldorf education and my undergraduate degree is from Sarah Lawrence College in NY, where I graduated with a focus on Film Production and Modern and Contemporary Art History and Theory.
I have since then worked in the film industry as a cinematographer, production designer and art director, and recently I have been doing graphic design for production designers in LA on commercials and feature projects. My work as an artist is a culmination of these elements.
In 2019 I co-created The award winning installation piece Argo Pacifico, in my hometown of Newcastle Australia in which we converted an entire gallery into a fake cruise ship. I have also had numerous video installations commissioned including Vampire Mountain 2019, Cable 2020 and Lady Wintermist 2021 two of which feature handmade model sets I built and greenscreened myself into.
